Marilyn Holt-Smith, CFA

Marilyn Holt-Smith is a Managing Director of Banyan Partners based in Madison, Wisc. She has 34 years experience in the investment industry and is a member of the Banyan investment policy committee. In addition to working one-on-one with clients to help them achieve their investment objectives, Marilyn serves as a member of the portfolio team and is responsible for conducting fundamental research and stock selection. 

Prior to joining Banyan, Marilyn was the founder and CEO of Holt-Smith Advisors, Inc., a Wisconsin-based registered investment advisor acquired by Banyan in 2013. Marilyn began her career with Madison Investment Advisors in 1979 as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager. She founded Holt-Smith in 1987, leading the firm’s investment team as Senior Portfolio Manager.

Marilyn earned a bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder in 1985. She is a founding member of the Madison Chapter of the Milwaukee Investment Analysts Society (MCMIAS), which is now known as the CFA Society of Madison and is affiliated with the CFA Institute. Marilyn is also an active volunteer in many state and local community organizations.
